Circles in space

This sculpture is all about playing with circles in space with some slip nets and oxide decorations.

A study in openings, layers and discovery, Circles in Space plays with circular windows cut through a rounded stoneware form — inviting you to peer inside and explore what’s happening beneath the surface. Through each aperture you catch glimpses of delicate slip “nets”, oxide markings and small details that shift as you move around the piece, creating a sense of depth and quiet motion.
The exterior is finished in a richly textured lava glaze, giving the surface a volcanic, tactile quality that contrasts beautifully with the luminous interior blues and organic structures within. It’s an unusual, eye-catching wall sculpture that rewards close looking — a small world held inside a protective shell.
Part of my Potential Inside collection, this work celebrates the potential inside all living things and the duality of outer and inner: what we show, what we hold, and what’s forming in the spaces in between.
Materials & finish: Hand-built stoneware clay. Lava glaze exterior, with coloured slips and oxides to the interior.
Dimensions: 16cm (W) x 10cm (D) x 16cm (H)
